Fee calculator · Malta

What would your accounting cost each month?

Choose how much you want to hand over, answer a few quick questions, and see an indicative fee with the workings behind every line. It covers self-employed people and limited companies in Malta. Looking for management accounts and advisory support? That is priced individually, see below.

Strictly indicative. This is an estimate, not a quote. Your actual fee is fixed in writing after a short call and a look at your records, and can be lower or higher. Prices are shown per month and exclude VAT. Compliance-only VAT returns are billed per quarter.
1What do you need from me?
1What type of business is it?
2How many invoices and bills a month?

Count sales invoices you issue plus supplier bills and receipts you receive. A rough figure is fine.

3Is there a business bank account to reconcile?

Every bank line has to be matched to an invoice or bill, so with a bank account the number of entries is your transactions × 2.

4Is the business VAT registered?

Article 11 (turnover up to €35,000) means one annual declaration. Article 10 means four quarterly VAT returns a year, at €200 per return (€66.67 a month).

3Quarterly VAT returns

Compliance only is built around Article 10 VAT: four quarterly returns a year at €200 each, prepared and filed from the records you send me. One quarterly return is also the minimum fee.

Not VAT registered, or on Article 11? , which covers both.

5Do you have employees on payroll?
6Annual accounts and income tax return?

Profit and loss account, balance sheet and the yearly income tax return, spread across the monthly fee.

The audit is not included. Maltese companies must be audited by an independent auditor, who quotes and invoices separately.

5Yearly income tax return?

7Monthly management accounts

A monthly pack (profit and loss against budget, balance sheet, debtors and creditors, VAT position, KPIs) and a review meeting. Management accounts packages start from €500 a month, all bookkeeping included. What's in the pack

Management accounts & advisory

Need advice on the numbers, not just the filing?

Management accounts and advisory support isn't in the calculator, because no two engagements are alike. The fee depends on how involved you need me to be, the number of companies, the state of the books and what you want to achieve. Tell me where the business stands and I'll propose a fixed monthly retainer, with KPIs set for your business and industry.

Entries are the lines that have to be recorded: your invoices and bills, plus the matching bank lines if there is a bank account to reconcile. The rate per entry falls as volume grows, because the work becomes repetitive.

  • Compliance only: the minimum is one quarterly VAT return (€200). The income tax return is prepared from the records you keep; if you'd like me to prepare the annual accounts as well, that is part of bookkeeping + compliance.
  • Bookkeeping + compliance: minimum monthly fee €150 for the self-employed, €250 for a limited company.
  • Management accounts packages start from €500 a month, all bookkeeping included.
  • The statutory audit is excluded and invoiced by the auditor.
  • Catch-up work on books that are behind is €50 an hour, estimated first.
